Surface/Lead Inspector

Surface/Lead Inspector

Precise and ultra-fast lead and surface measurement on shafts

How It Works

The Surface/Lead Inspector is a measurement system for ultra-fast, precise determination of lead (Drall) and surface roughness on sealing counterfaces of rotating shafts.

The system is based on the Heliotis H8m white-light interferometric sensor (lenses WLI8x or WLI10x) with lateral resolutions of 1.5 µm and 1.2 µm respectively. The shaft is automatically traversed under the sensor; measurement is non-contact.

The Surface/Lead Inspector covers all methods of FVA Guideline 975 I in one device: IMA-Microlead®Analysis (approx. 2:30 min), combined structure-based lead analysis (3D-Macrolead per FVA 975 I, approx. 3:00 min) and Macrolead measurement per MBN 31007-7 at shaft diameter 50 mm (approx. 7:30 min) – up to 8× faster than comparable devices, enabling lead measurement at cycle time.

Features

Lead measurement at cycle time

Up to 8× faster than comparable measurement devices. IMA-Microlead®Analysis in approx. 2:30 min, combined lead analysis per FVA 975 I in approx. 3:00 min.

FVA 975 I compliant

Implements all lead measurement methods of FVA Guideline 975 I for shaft counterfaces of radial shaft seals.

Combined methods

IMA-MicroleadAnalysis, 3D-MacroleadAnalysis, combined structure-based lead analysis, plus 2D/3D surface roughness per DIN EN ISO 25178 and Macrolead per MBN 31007-7 in a single system.

Intuitive operation

Intuitive and easy-to-use measurement software. Customer-specific developments possible, e.g. automation for industrial applications close to manufacturing.
